Big Yellow Taxi An Inflation Primer

Many of you may be familiar with the pop song Big Yellow Taxi originally done by Joni Mitchell in 1970. The following line has always bothered me.

"You take all the trees and put them in a tree Museum and
charge everybody a dollar and a half to see 'em"

This song has been done all of the artists below. Next to the date is how much that $1.50 would be when each cover was recorded. The calculations have been provided by The Inflation Calculator . The cover artists never manage to tell us that when we go to the tree museum we'll most likely be turned away at the door.

Joni Mitchell (April 1970) $1.50
Joe Dassin (1970) $1.50
Bob Dylan (November 16, 1973) $1.71
Big Country (1996) $6.23
Tres Tigres Tristes (2002) $7.08
Counting Crows (July 9, 2002)$7.11
